Trustee Miller moved and Trustee Shaw seconded to forward proposed amendments to Title 5, Chapter 50 (water and sewer charges) to the Village Board; the motion carried by roll call Jan. 7.
John, staff member, summarized the recommended revisions to the water-and-sewer fee schedule. He said a prior rate-study recommended a stepped administrative fee beginning at $9 and increasing by $1 per year through 2028. The staff recommendation presented to the committee keeps the base administrative fee at $9 and continues that amount annually unless future review shows it insufficient to fund the program. John also said the utility late fee would increase from 5% to 10% to offset a proposed decrease in administration fee collection timing.
“1 of the things that was recommended was a table of increase for fees for administration… starting at $9 this year and incrementally going up, a dollar each year up until 2028,” John said. He told trustees the changes are intended to help fund water-system operations after rates had not increased in about a decade.
Trustees asked no substantive follow-ups on the presented items. The committee did not adopt ordinance language at the Jan. 7 meeting; it forwarded the proposed changes for Village Board consideration. The Village Board will review the proposed amendments at a later meeting.
