Tinley Park sends Lenny’s sales-tax sharing agreement to Village Board

Trustees voted Jan. 7 to forward a proposed 10-year, 50/50 sales-tax sharing agreement with Lenny’s Gas and Wash to the Jan. 21 Village Board meeting; presenter said the plan follows village financial policy and is intended to support additional site development.
Trustee Shaw moved and Trustee Mueller seconded to send a proposed sales-tax sharing agreement between the village and Lenny’s Gas and Wash to the Village Board for final consideration on Jan. 21, and the motion carried by roll call Jan. 7.
Hannah, staff member, described the agreement as intended to support additional development tied to Lenny’s work in the right-of-way and a new traffic signal. “This is just a, straightforward sales tax sharing agreement,” Hannah said. “This is for the additional work that Lenny’s Gas and Wash is completing… so this is just $1,000,000, 50.50 sharing, over the course of 10 years. So status quo in line with our financial policies.”
The committee did not debate alternative sharing terms during the meeting. Following the staff presentation there were no additional questions and Trustees voted to move the item to the Village Board. Roll call for the motion recorded six affirmative votes (Trustees Brady, Brennan, Mahoney, Mueller, Shaw and Sills); there were no recorded no votes or abstentions.
The Village Board will consider the agreement at its Jan. 21 meeting; the committee did not adopt the agreement at this session and took no final contractual action.
Votes at the committee were procedural: the committee’s action was a referral to the Village Board for final action rather than an adoption of the sales-tax sharing agreement at the Jan. 7 meeting.
