Bay Shore updates IB Diploma performance, advances application for IB Career-related Programme

Bay Shore Union Free School District staff reported Wednesday that the district’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme continues to perform at or above global averages and detailed progress toward authorization of an IB Career-related Programme (CP) that would begin with business and STEM pathways.
District IB staff said the diploma cohort earned an 83% pass rate for last year’s May session, compared with a global pass rate staff cited as 80%. Staff also reported that certificate-course students averaged scores of 4 or higher on IB assessments about 82% of the time, which staff said aligns with world averages.
The CP is a two-year program intended for juniors and seniors that pairs a career-related study with two or more IB course offerings, a personal and professional skills course, a reflective project, language development and service-learning.
