Tinley Park board approves sales-tax sharing, civil service and utility rate measures; tables items 4–9

The Village of Tinley Park Board of Trustees on Jan. 7 approved a package of routine and policy items and voted to table several agenda items until the board’s next meeting on Jan. 21.
The board adopted Resolution 2025-R-002, authorizing a sales tax–sharing agreement with Lenny’s Gas and Wash at 183rd Street and La Grange Road. The resolution limits the village’s contribution to the agreement to $1,000,000 over 10 years and ties the sharing to site improvements the developer will perform, including right-of-way work and a new traffic signal. The motion was moved by Trustee Shaw and carried on a roll-call vote.
The board adopted Orders 2025-0-002 to amend rules and regulations for the Village of Tinley Park Civil Service Commission; trustees said the changes are intended to improve hiring efficiencies for patrol officers. The board also adopted Ordinance 2025-O-001 amending Title 5, Chapter 50 and Table 11 of the village code concerning water and sewer charges. Trustees were told the rate update implements staff recommendations to ensure the water and sewer enterprise funds cover operations, maintenance and capital replacement needs.
Trustees approved Resolution 2025-R-001, authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Orland Park for communications use of a Tinley Park water tower.
Separately, the board approved standard procedural items: the meeting agenda, the Dec. 17, 2024 meeting minutes and the consent agenda.
The board also approved a superseding motion to table agenda items 4 through 9 until the Jan. 21 meeting.
