Board hears several operational updates: bike/ped plan deadline, trick-or-treat pilot and study of DPW site

Trustees also heard from the community and business relations committee that the committee unanimously approved exploring closures — beginning with Morris Boulevard as a pilot — for trick-or-treating in 2025. The committee said it will hold a longer discussion with public works, fire and police before making a final recommendation.
The committee reported a request from Trustee Arndorffer to study options for redeveloping the public works (DPW) site for housing, including questions about lot sizes and potential tax value. The manager indicated the DPW-site analysis could be added to a current study so it would not delay other work; the committee passed a motion to explore options and requested timelines and cost estimates for future meetings.
Village staff (on behalf of Director Grupentraug) provided a communication plan included in the meeting packet for demonstration activities under the Safe Streets for All program; the packet language was presented as subject to revision as the project schedule evolves.
A trustee also reminded the public that a library board meeting was scheduled on Wednesday.
