Council approves salary ordinances funding two judicial positions and EMS leadership

The Henry County Council approved salary ordinances Jan. 8 that allocate judicial LIT and EMS LIT funds to pay staff salaries.
Debbie, a county finance representative, summarized the ordinances. The judicial LIT allocation provides roughly $119,000 to pay two judicial salaries and related benefits, leaving an estimated $9,000 at year-end. The EMS LIT allocation was described as roughly $140,000 and will cover the EMS director and assistant director salaries and benefits; staff said shifting those two positions to the EMS LIT avoided redoing payroll midyear for other EMS personnel.
Debbie said about $300,000 annually from the EMS LIT also goes to Newcastle Henry County Ambulance. A council member moved to approve both ordinances; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The council recorded the ordinances for the 2025 budget year and approved the salary funding as described by county staff.
