The Westonka Public School District reported enrollment of 2,414 students as of Jan. 1, and finance staff told the board that district revenues and expenditures through Dec. 31, 2024 are tracking in expected ranges.
At the meeting the finance presenter said the district had received $11,279,000 (27.7% of the adopted budget) in revenue and expended $16,780,000 (43.1% of the adopted budget) through Dec. 31, 2024. Staff said those figures are trending appropriately compared with prior years. The presenter said the district is completing a revised current-year budget and is beginning work on the adopted budget for the next fiscal year; staff plans to present the revised budget at the next school board meeting and to review the budget calendar at the Feb. 6 finance committee meeting.
Board members acknowledged the enrollment increase over the holiday break; staff attributed the rise to new families moving into the district and said the increase reflects ongoing appeal. The presenter said budget and facility planning will proceed in parallel and emphasized staff attention to careful use of district dollars.
No formal budget adoption occurred at the meeting; the board later approved a budget-planning calendar as an action item.
