Commission places hold on new pickleball and pool rates pending further outreach

The Boynton Beach City Commission on Tuesday directed staff to hold off on implementing recent fee changes for pickleball and pool facilities and voted to table three agenda items so commissioners can gather additional constituent feedback.
Commissioner Cruz requested the delay, saying she had not had time to contact affected residents and had received calls from constituents opposed to the rate changes. After discussion, the commission voted to put a temporary stay on implementation and to table items 10(b), 10(d) and 10(f) until the next meeting so commissioners could consult with residents and staff.
City staff told the commission they could implement a hold if the body directed them to do so; the commission recorded a motion to table the three items and the motion passed unanimously. Commissioners said the intent was to avoid surprising constituents by implementing new fees without additional outreach.
The action is procedural: staff will not implement the new rates until the commission returns to the items at a future meeting and provides final direction.
