The Common Council of the City of Madison on Jan. 7 adopted Ordinance 2024-18 to amend the city zoning map and rezone 130 Miles Ridge from low-density residential to general business.
The planning commission had given a favorable recommendation for the rezoning; council members said the site is contiguous with existing general business zoning and that the property had been used for a combined business and residential purpose previously. Council members moved to approve and the clerk conducted a roll-call vote. The following council members voted yes: Patrick Tavanel, Carla Krebs, Lucy DiTillo, Josh Schafer, Joel Storm, Jim Bartlett and Josh Wilbur. The roll call shows seven affirmative votes; no no or abstain votes were recorded in the transcript.
Council members described the change as allowing an established dentist office to operate under business zoning consistent with surrounding parcels. With the ordinance adopted the propertys zoning classification will change to permit general business uses per the city zoning map and city code procedures for rezoning.
The council did not record additional conditions or amendments in the transcript; the vote and adoption were taken at the meeting as presented.
