The Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Commission approved new fees for the teen kayak club to reflect rising program costs.
Parks staff said the program has been offered for about 10 years and typically enrolls roughly 10–12 teens for weekly sessions in June; activities include kayaking and paddleboarding at local waterways such as Percy Priest and Fall Creek. The new resident fee is $100 plus a $50 activity fee; nonresident participants will pay $115 plus a $50 activity fee. Staff cited unchanged fees for a decade and higher operating costs as the rationale.
A roll-call vote recorded all commissioners present voting “Aye.” Staff said the change will be posted with registration materials.
Commissioners did not provide an enrollment cap change beyond confirming an approximate historic enrollment of 10–12 participants per session.
