Northumberland County commissioners approve payrolls, ARPA purchases, ratify technology buys; one redevelopment appointment fails

The Northumberland County Commissioners on Tuesday, Jan. 7, approved routine payrolls and bills, authorized multiple uses of American Rescue Plan Act funds and ratified technology and communications purchases while appointing several members to the county redevelopment authority; one appointment failed for lack of a second.

The panel voted to pay two payroll runs — payroll number 25 for $745,723.27 and payroll number 26 for $719,089.43 — and to pay county and liquid fuels bills totaling $7,574,346.10 for the period Nov. 23, 2024 through Jan. 3, 2025. Commissioners also authorized an increase in the county mileage-reimbursement rate from $0.67 per mile to the IRS standard rate of $0.70 per mile for 2025.

The board authorized recurring monthly payments for 2025 of $12,597.75 to the Central Susquehanna Extension Association (affiliated with Penn State Extension) and $4,638 to the Northumberland County Conservation District. It also authorized the chair to sign the 2025 certification of county funds form designating $10,000 to the county agricultural land preservation program.
