Board approves budget amendments; district reports federal budgets now posted

Granville County Public Schools approved its monthly budget amendments and received an update on the district’s finances through the end of November.
Miss Hines (finance lead) presented budget amendments that increased state funds by $243,186 (including EC funding and a CTE credential program) and increased other restricted (Fund 8) revenues by $104,920 for grants, donations and program revenues (including a project lead the way grant at Butner STEM Elementary, digital equity grant, donations for athletics and McKinney-Vento support). Local fund adjustments reflected purpose-code transfers rather than net increases.
The board approved the amendments on a voice vote.
Finance staff also reported that federal budgets that had not been posted as of the end of November are now approved and posted to the general ledger. The district said general operating funds were at roughly one-third expended at that point in the year, consistent with expectations; capital outlay spending rose compared with December because major projects and county-funded roofing/HVAC payments were processed.
Board members asked about capital-outlay percentages; finance staff said they would confirm whether a December accounting correction had been applied to the current report and would return with clarifying figures at the next meeting.
