Stephenson County probation office to fill supervisor vacancy after Steve Brown moves to Carroll County

Stephenson County probation officials reported a supervisory vacancy after Steve Brown accepted a director position in Carroll County, and said the office will begin interviewing to fill the post at the end of the month.
"Steve Brown is going to our Carroll County office as the director there," the probation representative said. "So it is a good deal for him, and I support him through the process. It will be half the commute." The office said it will begin internal and external interviews for the supervisor position at the end of the month.
Probation staff also reported an open adult probation officer position and said roughly half the current officers may be eligible to apply for the supervisory post. The office indicated the supervisor position requires a bachelor’s degree and a couple years' probation experience.
The probation representative said the office will recruit both internally and externally and expects to interview candidates before making a selection. No formal board action was taken on staffing during the meeting.
The report was presented during the reports section of the meeting; the board did not vote on hiring during the session but was informed of the planned recruitment and upcoming interviews.
