Jefferson County recognizes Beta Club achievements and cross‑country milestones

Jefferson County Board of Education meeting attendees recognized student achievements from Jefferson Middle School’s Beta Club and cross‑country teams.

Miss Simpson introduced Beta Club student leaders Chris Justice and Liz Bridal and said the club recently initiated 58 new members, bringing membership to over 100. She said Jefferson Middle School was named a National School of Merit for the second consecutive year and that 23 students attended the state convention in Nashville. “We were able to take 23 students and it was our first time ever as Jefferson Middle School attending the state convention,” Miss Simpson said.

Student accomplishments presented included Caitlin Parksoft, who placed second in creative writing; a seventh‑grade technology team including Caroline Simpson that placed second; a quiz‑bowl team that finished fourth and qualified for nationals; and Adrianna Knight, who was selected as a premier singer and invited to sing at nationals. The club also donated 289 books to the public library and performed service projects such as Christmas caroling at the Jefferson City Rehabilitation Center.

Coach Denosha and members of the Jefferson High cross‑country program were also recognized. The coach reported that the team had been district champions for three consecutive years, qualified for state three years in a row — the first time in program history — and produced school record holders. The coach named Connor, Gage and Gavin Slagle, Eli Jones, Rex Churchwell, Mason Satterfield, Jacob Goldstein and Sawyer Runyon among the athletes honored.

The board welcomed the students and coaches and offered appreciation; no action was required.
