County health officials say the laboratory will expand diagnostic testing for infectious diseases, environmental testing for food and water safety and rabies, genomic sequencing and wastewater surveillance. "We test for infectious disease, things like measles, mumps, norovirus to identify a potential outbreak, and then mitigate that outbreak," a public health laboratory official said.
