A staff presenter described the PG&E program as competitive and capped at $100,000 per project with only $400,000 available statewide; staff said Angels Camp qualified because Utica Park served as a resilience center during a prior public-safety power shutoff and recorded high attendance. The application would seek funds to improve the park’s kitchen to allow community feeding during outages, and to secure minor lighting and generator hook‑ups so that key areas stay illuminated during power interruptions.
Council members praised the quick staff effort to prepare the application and expressed support for seeking outside funds rather than relying on general fund dollars. There was no public opposition and the council approved the resolution on a motion and second.
Staff said the city will authorize the city administrator to sign and execute associated grant documents if the application is accepted, and that any award would be brought back for acceptance and for direction on budget accounting.
