The treasurer said the report presented to the committee had been completed before she started and "it was not submitted by me," adding that she worked with county staff to review the filing. She told the committee that a remaining staff member in the treasurer's office "is uncomfortable that we will be able to take care of our customer, the taxpayer, with the recent changes and reduction of staffing. So I would like, at some point, for this committee to review that."
Committee members asked how to initiate a formal review. The county manager said vacancies are normally reviewed with the human resources director and the county manager will assess whether positions should be filled; the manager said short notice made it difficult to place the topic on this meeting's agenda. The treasurer pressed for assistance getting the staffing question before the full board, and the county attorney advised that a board member who is not on the committee should raise the concern with the full board rather than pursue it through the committee.
