The Concord electric department presented results of two public bid openings and asked council to consider awarding contracts.
Jarian, a city electric-department presenter, said the December 12, 2024 public bid opening for the 100 kV delivery upgrade (behind the speedway) produced low bids from two vendors: WESCO submitted the lowest bid for Schedule 1 at $111,102 and Siemens Energy submitted the lowest for Schedule 2 at $765,860. Jarian said the total funding requested for the upgrade is $876,962.
In a separate public bid opening on the same date, for replacement of the existing station power transformer at Sub H on Highway 601 near Old Charlotte Road, Jarian said Virginia Transformer was the lowest responsive bidder at $1,430,800. The presentation noted the current transformer no longer has a full range of voltage-regulating abilities and requires replacement.
No council questions were recorded in the transcript; staff said they would be happy to answer questions and will return with contract-award items for council action.
