The Crow Wing County sheriff reported to the board that a search on New Year’s Day located a woman who had become hypothermic after wandering from her residence and spending the night in wooded terrain.
The sheriff said searchers covered about 80 acres and that volunteers, a marine patrol, and the county’s drone team assisted. He described the searchers’ willingness to continue and said that, after searching a final area before darkness, rescuers found the woman and got her medical attention. “Lo and behold, we found her and we’re able to get her the medical attention that she needed,” the sheriff said.
The sheriff called it a “feel-good” example of the county’s volunteer capacity and praised the responding personnel.
