Carteret County Board of Education members received a progress update on three bond-funded capital projects at their January meeting.
District staff reported Broad Creek Middle School’s addition is essentially complete and in punch-list status with mostly HVAC control tweaks remaining; the building is occupied. West Carteret’s renovation is the district’s largest project. Staff said delays with doors briefly held work up but that the new band room should be ready early in the second semester; windows and a reopened cafeteria with two new restrooms were installed over winter break and mechanical and electrical work is ongoing. The third project, a culinary lab at East Carteret High School, is progressing on schedule; contractors have cut floors to install plumbing.
“Overall, the project remains on schedule,” the presenter said of the West Carteret work. Board members asked for questions; none were raised.
Ending
Staff concluded the bond update and the board moved on to policy items and the calendar discussion.
