AmeriCorps member to work on North Central housing plan implementation; commissioners urged public input on state survey

Aiden Bowick, an American Connection Corps AmeriCorps member placed at the North Central Regional Planning and Development Commission, introduced himself to Clearfield County commissioners and outlined a year-long role supporting implementation of regional housing recommendations.

Bowick said AmeriCorps places members at host sites to increase local capacity and described his assignment as following up on the housing needs assessment North Central produced a few years ago. He told commissioners he has been meeting housing stakeholders across the six-county region, including local housing authorities and the Area Agency on Aging, to identify where North Central can help advance implementation steps from that plan.

"AmeriCorps is a national ... independent agency of the federal government that is dedicated to civic engagement and volunteerism," Bowick said, describing the program and his placement. He added he is from the region and will serve through August 2025.

Bowick also asked the commissioners to encourage local residents and stakeholders to complete a Department of Community and Economic Development survey connected to the governor’s proposed 10-year housing action plan; he said the deadline for that survey was imminent and that the survey is available on DCED’s website. Commissioners thanked Bowick for the introduction and noted his prior internship experience in Elk County and his work on a joint comprehensive plan.

Bowick said he will distribute informational flyers about AmeriCorps and the American Connection Corps after the meeting and invited further questions about his work.
