Local addiction counselor briefs commissioners on services available through Lander County Drug Court

Tina Marie Bishu, speaking during the Jan. 6 public‑comment period, told the commission she has worked with the Lander County Drug Court since 2005 and outlined the substance‑use and mental‑health services she provides locally.
Bishu described her credentials — nationally certified addiction counselor, master’s degree in mental health counseling with a minor in substance abuse studies, licensed alcohol and drug counselor, supervisor and certified problem‑gambling counselor supervisor — and said she supervises trainees and conducts evaluations for the sheriff’s office and courts. She said turnaround for assessments is typically two to three days, with weekend appointments available so clients do not have to miss work.
Bishu told commissioners that substance use often co‑occurs with anxiety, PTSD and depression, and she said co‑occurring disorders clinical work is part of her current training internship. She asked commissioners to be aware that these services are available in the community and said she prefers to protect client confidentiality by not publicizing names.
The board received the public comment without action; commissioners thanked her for the update.
