Mentor Council approves emergency resolution to request advance of property tax funds; confirms multiple board appointments

Mentor City Council approved Resolution 25-R-101 on Jan. 7, asking the Lake County Auditor’s Office to remit, in advance of real-estate tax settlements, the maximum cash legally allowed to the city and declaring the measure an emergency. Council then confirmed a series of appointments to advisory boards and commissions.

The resolution was introduced by a staff member who described the measure as an annual request and recommended approval. “I would recommend approval,” the staff member said. Counsel moved to suspend the rules and to approve the resolution; a subsequent roll-call vote recorded unanimous approval.

The action gives the city authorization to request an advance of property-tax funds from the Lake County Auditor’s Office. Council took the vote under emergency suspension of the usual rules; the resolution was adopted by a unanimous roll call.
