The Statesboro City Council approved a slate of routine city actions during the meeting, including a resolution to set qualified fees for the Nov. 4, 2025 general election, membership in an interlocal risk-management program to provide post-traumatic stress coverage for public safety employees, an amendment to a resurfacing contract and the council minutes from Dec. 17.
Council staff described Resolution 2025-01 as a required step for an election year. "We're required... it just calls the attention that this is an election year," a staff member said while presenting the resolution. The council moved to approve Resolution 2025-01 to fix and publish the qualified fees for the Nov. 4, 2025 general election; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Council also approved Resolution 2025-02 to add membership in a Georgia interlocal risk-management agency after staff described the change as necessary to comply with House Bill 451, which the presenter said mandates coverage for public safety employees for post-traumatic stress syndrome effective Jan. 1, 2025. "The general assembly adopted House Bill 451... and so every municipality in Georgia has to do this," the presenting staff member said. The council approved the resolution on a voice vote.
The council approved an amendment to the resurfacing contract with Real Quick Construction for an estimated $47,740.70 for fiscal year 2024 work based on unit pricing provided by the contractor. Staff said the project would be paid with funds approved in the 2025 capital improvement budget and referenced GDOT funding; councilmembers moved to approve the amendment and the motion passed on voice vote.
The council approved the Dec. 17 council minutes and executive session minutes by motion, also carried on a voice vote.
None of the recorded motions in the meeting transcript included named movers or a roll-call vote; approvals were taken by voice. Where the transcript provided budget or dollar amounts, those figures are reported as presented by staff.
