Clark County board approves travel to KSBA and NSBA conferences

The Clark County Board of Education voted to authorize board members and the superintendent to attend two professional conferences this spring: the Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) annual conference in Louisville, Feb. 21–23, and the National School Boards Association (NSBA) conference in Atlanta, Apr. 4–6.
A motion to approve attendance at the KSBA conference passed by voice vote, recorded 5-0. Board members noted the KSBA conference counts toward required board education and recommended members who attended follow up at a subsequent meeting with brief reports on sessions attended.
Separately, the board approved authorization to attend the NSBA national conference in Atlanta. Board discussion identified that NSBA offers broader national perspectives and vendor exhibits; the board noted attendance is optional, that registration and travel deadlines apply, and that individuals may cancel if plans change. The motion authorizing attendance carried 5-0.
Board members said they will report back to the board after attending any conference to provide transparency about what they learned and whether there are district-level follow-ups. There was brief discussion about registration and hotel timing; staff noted early registration deadlines and that some sessions or credit hours are recorded through the conference organizers.
