At the Jan. 8 regular meeting of the Cemetery Board, members elected Carson Kane as chair and Benny Smith as vice chair and unanimously approved minutes from the Oct. 9, 2024, meeting.

The leadership votes followed a roll call that established a four-member quorum. An unnamed board member nominated Carson Kane for chair; the nomination was seconded and the board recorded four ayes — Taylor, Carson Kane, Benny Smith and Perkins — approving Kane as chair. The board then nominated Benny Smith as vice chair, received a second, and again recorded four ayes to approve Smith.

The board also moved to accept the minutes from the Oct. 9, 2024 regular meeting. That motion was seconded and carried unanimously, with Taylor, Carson Kane, Benny Smith and Perkins recorded as voting aye.

During board comments, a board member directed that members sign administrative paperwork after the meeting, saying: "You've got some forms there... that you've received your manual in a conflict of interest form I need you to sign and your cemetery board certificate." The board agreed to handle signatures after adjournment.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:07 p.m.
