Northville Board of Education elects officers, shifts subcommittee work to full board for six‑month trial

Northville — The Northville Board of Education held its annual organizational meeting on Jan. 7, 2025, swearing in new members and unanimously electing officers for the coming year before approving a six‑month trial to move routine subcommittee work into meetings of the whole.

The meeting opened at 6:35 p.m. and began with an oath of office for newly seated trustees administered by Bridal Turnbull, identified in the meeting as mayor and acting official for the swearing‑in. Superintendent Amir (Dr.) Weber opened with remarks on local democracy and the board’s role, saying, “When it comes to numbers or something called the government, it’s people.”

The board elected Trustee Lisa McIntyre to serve as president (motion 64), Trustee Kim Campbell Voigtel as vice president (motion 65), Trustee Karen Meyer as secretary (motion 66) and Trustee Melissa Stewart as treasurer (motion 67). Each officer election was moved and seconded during the meeting and passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
