The council authorized a professional services agreement on Jan. 7 with Kimley‑Horn and Associates for preliminary and final design of the Featherline Road Reconstruction Project at a proposed fee of $1,833,873.
Staff said the project limits extend from Chaparral Drive to Stagecoach and will include widening to three lanes, sidewalks and street trees on both sides, stormwater drainage improvements and a 12‑inch water main consistent with the city’s capital improvement plan. Design will analyze an intersection improvement at Featherline and Malmasan — either a traffic signal or a roundabout — and evaluate a culvert crossing near Y’all Ranch for potential upgrades. Staff also said they plan to begin design now and seek reimbursement from a future bond sale once bonds are issued.
Zager told council the design schedule is approximately two years, with public open houses planned during the design phase. Council members thanked staff and noted the project was prioritized as part of planned capital improvements.
Council authorized the city manager to enter into the design agreement with Kimley‑Horn for $1,833,873 and to execute related documents under the city charter and state law.
