Greenfield council approves Nini's Pizzeria expansion on West Cold Spring Road

The Greenfield Common Council on Jan. 7 approved a special use permit allowing Nini’s Pizzeria to expand into the adjacent tenant space at 6125 West Cold Spring Road.
City planning staff told the council the restaurant currently occupies about 1,300 square feet and would expand into the neighboring unit, increasing the restaurant’s footprint to roughly 2,200 square feet. The city planner said the additional space will be used primarily for seating; Vesni Kavasovsky, speaking on behalf of Nini’s Pizzeria, told the council the expansion will provide 42 additional seats. "So we'd like to provide more of a hospitable environment for the community to come in and dine in as well," Kavasovsky said.
The planner said the building’s parking requirement is 30 spaces and 19 are currently provided; the Plan Commission recommended approval of the special use permit on Nov. 12. No letters of support or objection were received before the hearing. Council members asked no substantive follow-up questions at the public hearing.
Alderperson Kastner moved to approve the special use permit; the motion passed on a roll call vote with all voting members present recorded as voting yes (Alderpersons Juzwicki, Kastner, Akers, Sarian, Bailey and Zwicky). The council also approved the associated site-plan review for the tenant space expansion.
The approval means Nini’s may renovate the adjacent space for customer seating under the city’s PUD/special-use rules; the council did not change the restaurant’s approved hours of operation, which staff said match the hours approved in the prior special-use review.
