Taos County commissioners used part of their Jan. 7, 2025 meeting to present service awards to county employees and to delay approval of prior meeting minutes.
The commission recognized multiple employees for years of service, including Patricia Baca (16 years, receptionist), Delbert Panella (19 years, Public Works), Bobby Lucero (8 years, Office of Emergency Management director), Nina Rodriguez (8 years, E 901 dispatch), Steven Clegg (8 years, Fire and Rescue), Sharon Vargas (6 years, Senior Programs), John Gonzalez (3 years, Senior Programs), and several staff marking one- and two-year anniversaries in departments ranging from facilities to solid waste and dispatch. The meeting record names deputy Alfred Gonzalez (recorded as Deputy Gonzales) and Deputy Justin Dean from the sheriff’s office among those recognized.
Commissioners congratulated recognized employees on their service; the minutes reflect remarks of appreciation and a formal presentation of a certificate to Deputy Gonzalez for five years of service to the Taos County Sheriff’s Office (Dec. 19, 2019–Dec. 2024).
On procedural business, the board considered approval of the Dec. 17, 2024 regular meeting minutes and, after brief discussion, moved to table the item until the next meeting; the motion to table carried on a recorded roll call.
Ending: After awards and the tabling of minutes, the commission continued with the meeting’s remaining agenda items, including the resolutions and appointments recorded in separate action items.
