The McLeod County Board of Commissioners held its first organizational meeting of 2025 on Jan. 7, swearing in newly elected and returning members and electing its leadership for the year.
Commissioner Nathan Schmalz, Commissioner Paul Wright and Commissioner Lori Chachka were sworn in during the session. After the oath of office, the board moved to elect its officers: Commissioner Doug Krueger nominated Commissioner Joe Nagel for chair, with Paul Wright seconding the nomination. The board voted by voice and Nagel was elected chair. The board then nominated and elected Doug Krueger as vice chair by voice vote.
The swearing-in ceremony included recitations of the constitutional oath. The organizational actions were routine and taken by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The newly constituted board said it would proceed with its regular business and scheduled workshops for the year. Chair Nagel will preside over board meetings for 2025, and Krueger will serve as vice chair.
