Taos County commissioners approved the award of ITB 2025-01 for construction services on the Rio Valencia / New Mexico 150 project to Hassy Construction Company, Inc., the only responsive bidder.
County staff told commissioners the packet included a bid sheet showing a final price of $1,886,480 before New Mexico gross receipts tax (GRT). Staff said the majority of the project funding comes from a state grant of $1.5 million, with the county matching the remainder to complete the work. Because the award relies on state ARPA funds, staff said the grant funds must be expended before June 30, and the county expects to issue a notice to proceed in April and complete the roughly two-month construction window.
Staff and contractors described the work as slope stabilization and drainage controls on the project segment south of town. The planned work includes curb and gutter at the top of the slope to divert runoff to a valley gutter, two catch basins to distribute water, and slope-stabilization netting similar to installations at Papalello and Rincon Avenue. Staff identified the project as a collaborative effort with the state transportation department.
Commissioner Brush moved to approve the award; Commissioner Vigil seconded. The clerk called the roll and the motion passed on a unanimous vote.
