A refrigerator motor caught fire early in the morning at Long Vista School, creating smoke damage to the cafeteria and causing sprinklers to activate and some water damage to the ceiling tiles.

The district superintendent said the incident occurred at "around 6:25 ish in the morning" and that SERVPRO was on site to clean and remediate the affected areas. The superintendent said the cafeteria and auditorium will not be available, but students will be served meals in classrooms and the district expects the school day to proceed without interruption.
