The Torrington Small Cities Committee on Monday approved two homeowner assistance projects during a special meeting held via Zoom.

The committee voted 3-0 to approve a $28,250 contract for work at 64 Albany Street to replace the house and garage roofing and gutters, install a new garage door and replace the garage concrete floor slab. The committee also voted 3-0 to approve installation of an auxiliary generator at 26 Hodges Hill Road at an updated price of $15,877.72, an increase described by members as resulting from the age of the original quote.

Both motions were moved by Councilman Dave Oliver and seconded by Councilman Steve Iveen. Committee members present — Councilman Steve Iveen, Councilman Dave Oliver and Councilman Drake Waldron — voted in favor of each measure.

Committee discussion was brief. Members noted that older assessment values may no longer reflect current equity levels, and that the generator price had risen because the quote had aged; no objections to either contract were recorded. The meeting record shows the items listed as Small Cities projects with project number 143-sc-36 for 64 Albany Street and project number 143-PI-51 for 26 Hodges Hill Road.

After the votes the committee moved to adjourn; members also asked which of the two present would represent the committee at a subsequent meeting because one member said he would not be available to attend.
