Planning staff said the open space coordinator reviewed the parcel and there is correspondence in the file indicating that acquisition is under consideration because the parcel abuts existing city property and is likely not developable. The staff memo and an attorney’s letter from the property owner’s counsel are in the file.

Board members asked specifically whether the file addresses back taxes and contamination. Staff said the open space memo did not address outstanding taxes; contamination questions would be answered by the staff member who reviews donated properties. The board asked staff to obtain explicit answers on those two points and to return the item at a future meeting.
