The Milford Planning and Zoning Board on Jan. 7 did not hear an application for an easement at 0 River Street and postponed the item after there was no city representative in the room to explain terms.

The agenda described the item as an approval pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes §8-24 to allow an easement in favor of Metro TOD LLC for electric vehicle charging stations on a city-owned portion of map 54, block 322, partial lot 4A. Planning staff said the developer originally intended to locate chargers in the municipal parking garage, but a local fire code and a board of aldermen ordinance now prohibit electric vehicle charging stations inside the garage; the developer therefore proposes locating stations on other city land — a surface lot on Railroad Avenue.

When asked whether the charging would be free or paid, staff said they did not know and recommended postponement so a city representative could answer questions about payment terms, site control, and whether the surface parking on the site is public or private. The board agreed to postpone the item to a future meeting so staff and a city representative could be present to respond to specific operational and legal questions.
