ST JOHN, Jan. 8, 2025 — Town Manager Billy told the St John Town Council that the community center foundation is poured and that the project is awaiting mechanical, electrical and plumbing permits from the state before walls go up.
"The foundation is poured. We're waiting on the mechanical electric, and plumbing permits. Those should be back from the state within no more than a couple more weeks," Billy said. He told the council he expects construction of walls to begin shortly after permits are returned and that the town is still targeting a spring 2025 opening date.
Billy said he attached comparative facility-rate schedules from neighboring communities to the meeting packet and is preparing a proposed rate schedule for the town. "I'm putting together what I think we're gonna need," he said, and added he will send the draft rates for council review and comment. Councilmembers discussed the comparables and agreed they appeared generally in line with expectations; one councilmember said some neighboring rates were "rather low" and might not match St John’s planned offering.
The council did not take action on fees or construction at the meeting; staff indicated the next steps are to finalize permit approvals, circulate proposed rates and continue construction when permits are issued.
