Cheryl Fox, who said she donated a purple bench to Compassion St. Augustine, asked the City Commission on Jan. 6, 2025, whether the city would permit the bench to be installed in front of a public mural on city property.
Fox said she had worked with Compassion St. Augustine and that Bill Jones had supported placing the bench in front of the mural. Commissioners indicated there was no objection to the bench location and instructed public-works staff to coordinate installation and to secure the bench to an existing pad or otherwise anchor it as appropriate. City staff asked Fox to email city manager Max (and staff) after the meeting to arrange delivery and installation details.
The placement was described as consensus rather than a formal vote; staff said they would assist with installation logistics and that the bench donor would coordinate delivery with the city manager by email.
