Mayor Boyles moderated the discussion, and organizers said the sidebar event aims to connect local founders with venture capitalists and investors.
Organizers described the event as a networking and economic-development opportunity. According to remarks during the program, the Sidebar Summit and the city have worked together for almost two years to bring public- and private-sector participants together. Speakers emphasized lessons for early-stage founders, investors evaluating deals, and people considering launching startups, including how to navigate adversity and scale companies.
A panel participant who described running a fund focused on blockchain technology and holding sports ownership stakes said the discussion would cover entrepreneurial strategies, the state of the market, and ways government and business can work together to improve the business climate. Panelists framed the gathering as both practical advice for founders and a chance to promote El Segundo’s concentration of technology and manufacturing firms.
Speakers highlighted El Segundo’s local ecosystem and neighborhood clustering — including Smoky Hollow — as strengths that help entrepreneurs make connections.
