At its Jan. 7, 2025 meeting the Medical Lake City Council approved three resolutions and several routine consent items.
Votes at a glance
- Resolution 25-724: Service agreement with 4 Lakes Water District — approved. The agreement assigns the City of Medical Lake to operate certain sampling and testing tasks for the 4 Lakes Water District’s system; staff said there were no substantive changes from the prior agreement. The council approved the agreement by motion; the vote was recorded as unanimous in the meeting minutes.
- Resolution 25-730: City Hall auditorium kitchen remodel bid award — approved. The council awarded the construction contract for the commercial kitchen remodel to WF General Contractors for a base bid of $111,225.65. Council discussion noted additional costs for kitchen equipment and sales tax; the source of construction funding was discussed in general terms during the meeting.
- Resolution 25-733: E&H Engineering contract — approved. The council authorized $300,000 for engineering to support a sewer expansion project (part of a larger prospectus project described during the meeting). Staff said the engineering work would make the project shovel-ready and more competitive for future grant funding; an engineer’s estimate for construction of this portion was discussed as roughly $3.5 million in the prospectus.
Other routine actions included approval of minutes and payment warrants (claims numbers 52053–52106 totaling $151,273.26). Council members moved and seconded each item and the minutes record unanimous approval unless otherwise noted.
Staff said the 4 Lakes agreement will operate under the purview of the water-district commissioners; city staff will perform the operator duties and report to the district’s commissioners. For the sewer engineering, staff and council referenced funds appropriated from the state appropriation secured during last year’s Olympia trip to begin engineering work.
