Board endorses Illinois Vision 2030 education-improvement recommendations

At agenda item 12.2 the board voted to adopt a resolution supporting Vision 2030, an education-improvement policy document developed by the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) in collaboration with other statewide education associations.
Superintendent Gil read the resolution on the record and summarized the plan’s three pillars: future-focused learning (career and college exploration, educator recruitment and curricular flexibility), shared accountability (assessment and accountability reform, mandate reform and local flexibility) and predictable funding (protecting the evidence-based funding model, pension reform discussion and equitable capital and safety funding).
The resolution names multiple associations as co-sponsors or endorsers and urges the Illinois General Assembly to consider legislative changes to implement the recommendations. The board approved the resolution by roll call; the vote recorded seven ayes.
