Casper council honors Team Wyoming 18U hockey; residents urge constitutional fidelity, a second ice sheet and stronger firefighter-council communication

"In your oath of office, you have pledged to uphold the United States and Wyoming Constitution," Shripman told the council. He further discussed First Amendment protections and the limits of federal power, framing his remarks as a call for councilors to remember constitutional constraints in municipal deliberations.
A resident who identified himself as Jerry noted national press coverage referencing Casper's population and urged continued attention to the ice arena, saying the city needs a second sheet of ice to support youth hockey and community use. The mayor and staff said the championship banner will be hung at the arena and acknowledged the community's interest in expanding ice facilities.
Andrew Sundahl, president of Local 904 (Casper firefighters), spoke on behalf of the department to thank the outgoing council, welcome the new council and seek improved communication with council and city management. Sundahl said firefighters appreciate recent support for minimum staffing increases and the Fire Station 1 replacement effort and emphasized the department's readiness to collaborate on future needs. "We have never been closer than we are right now," Sundahl said, urging continued cooperation to complete staffing and station projects.
Councilors offered brief responses and noted opportunities to follow up with staff on facility requests and community concerns. No formal council actions or votes were taken in response to the public comment period; items raised will be handled through staff follow-up or future agenda items as appropriate.
