Carol Stream swears in Darren Boshart as police sergeant

The Village of Carol Stream on Jan. 6 swore in Darren Boshart as a police sergeant, marking a personnel promotion within the Carol Stream Police Department.
Deputy Chief (Carol Stream Police Department) introduced Boshart to the Village Board and attendees, describing the sergeant position as “the backbone of our leadership within the department” and detailing Boshart’s 18 years with the department and roles including field training officer, evidence technician, juvenile officer, rapid deployment instructor, honor guard member, patrol corporal, SWAT operator and detective in the criminal investigations unit.
The deputy chief noted Boshart’s work on financial-crime investigations and his role with the Merit Major Crimes Task Force in DuPage County. Boshart holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Grand Valley State University, the deputy chief said.
Boshart took the oath of office and was presented his sergeant badge by his wife, Keisha. In his remarks he thanked family, colleagues and department leadership and said, “This is a tremendous honor. I’m excited for what lies ahead, and I look forward to serving the department and our community in this new role.”
The board and attendees offered congratulations after the ceremony. No formal votes were recorded specifically for the promotion during the public roll calls that followed; the presentation and oath were conducted as part of the meeting’s ceremonial items.
