Cowlitz County commissioners elect Dahl chair, Raider vice chair for 2025

The Cowlitz County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Dahl as chair and Commissioner Raider as vice chair at its Jan. 6 meeting, with both officers winning by voice vote.
The vote followed nominations from the floor. The board chair election produced three affirmative responses, after which Clerk of the Board announced that "the ayes have it and Commissioner Dahl is elected as chair." After Dahl assumed the meeting, the board proceeded to nominate and elect Commissioner Raider as vice chair by the same voice procedure.
The board then approved the minutes of its previous open meeting and moved on to the rest of the agenda. The chair thanked the commissioners for their support and said he sees the role primarily as the person asked to run meetings, not as a position with additional unilateral authority.
No formal roll-call tallies beyond the recorded verbal "ayes" were entered into the record for either election. The board also adopted a resolution electing the chair and vice chair for calendar year 2025 as part of consent business.
Looking ahead, the board noted routine calendar items and upcoming visits from state agencies; the clerk indicated the next scheduled meeting would be canceled for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
