Siouxland District Health sidewalk project comes in under estimate; board approves bid

Woodbury County supervisors approved a low bid to replace a sidewalk at 1014 Nebraska Street from the fiscal-year 2024 capital improvement project list.
Kevin Grama, identified in the meeting announcement as the Siouxland District Health director, presented the bid and recommended award. The original estimate included in the county’s CIP was about $55,000; the recommended contract amount is $25,545, which the presenter said came from a new contractor with competitive pricing and options.
The proposed work narrows to a 5-foot travel path up the hill widening to 9 feet at the building entrance and adds a roughly 4-foot grass berm between the sidewalk and the building to reduce water runoff and cracking. Grama said the county will work with the contractor to schedule installation in spring when weather allows.
Board action: Supervisors voted unanimously to accept the recommended bid and proceed with the project.
