Commissioner questions library sole-source procurement, FBI notice for vendor cited

A commissioner asked the Board of County Commissioners to acknowledge documents submitted by the Albany County Public Library and raised questions about a sole-source procurement in the library's packet.
The commissioner said the library's purchase justification names a sole-source provider for a camera and security upgrade using Verkada equipment and pointed to a reseller named Carahsoft in the packet. The commissioner said recent reporting indicated an "FBI raid" or law-enforcement action related to the reseller and asked that the county ensure public dollars are spent with reputable vendors. "It's quoted through a company that was just rated by the FBI within the last 3 or 4 months," the commissioner said.
County staff and another commissioner discussed line-item descriptions, credit-card reconciliations and the need for clearer invoice references for public accountability. The commissioner said some Amazon purchases listed in the library's credit-card records did not have clear purchase descriptions and asked the library to enumerate what was purchased and link purchases to budget lines.
The board voted to acknowledge receipt of the documentation from the library and asked staff to follow up and improve transparency on future purchases.
