Riverwoods Board approves $24,700 HVAC controls upgrade for Village Hall

The Village of Riverwoods Board of Trustees approved a $24,700 proposal from Emmy Bach for HVAC controls and room-level thermostats at Village Hall on Jan. 7. Trustees voted by roll call to approve the expenditure.
Director Witt said the building has severe problems controlling temperatures between rooms; occupants could see 20-degree differentials under the current system. The approved work will replace a failing automated control arrangement with individual controls for roughly 16 zones to allow room-by-room adjustment.
According to the materials presented, the vendor’s proposal arrived near the amount estimated during earlier discussions. Director Witt said the new configuration should improve comfort and reduce ongoing service calls. The board discussed whether recourse exists against past contractors or architects for earlier construction decisions; staff said remedies appeared unlikely for prior design choices.
The motion to approve the proposal was seconded by Trustee Clayton. Roll-call votes recorded Trustees Eastman, Hollander, Smith, Clayton and Dickens voting aye; the motion passed.
