Committee approves one-year extension for Scooter Scoreboard Bar’s retail liquor license

The Cheyenne Finance Committee on Jan. 6 unanimously recommended granting Scooter Scoreboard LLC doing business as Scooter Scoreboard Bar a one-year extension to become operational for its retail liquor license at 619 East Lincoln Way.
Kylie Sowden, city clerk, told the committee that under state statute a licensee has one year to become operational and may request an additional period not to exceed one year “with good cause.” Sowden said Scooter Scoreboard’s application indicated the licensee had attempted to sell the license, some offers had fallen through, and the license is listed with a real estate agent while talks continue with a potential buyer.
A member of the public, Mark Rennie (public commenter), asked what constituted “good cause.” Sowden reiterated the sale attempts and active talks with a buyer as justification. No representative from the licensee spoke at the meeting.
Finance Committee member Moody moved to approve the extension; Mr. Rehbal seconded. The committee recorded a unanimous recommendation to adopt the extension at the next meeting of the governing body.
