Health and Human Services budget update: county expects about $360,000 in WIMCR payments from 2023 work

An administrative staff member told the Sawyer County Health and Human Services Board on Jan. 7 that the department has received word it will receive WIMCR (Wisconsin Medicaid Cost Reporting) payments that reflect services billed in 2023. The staff member said the payments are typically received a year late and that the county is expecting about $360,000 associated with MA-billed services including crisis intervention, targeted case management and other billable services.
The staff member said other MA billings (CLTS, CSP, birth-to-3 and related services) also have revenue that will post later and that next month’s roll-up should present a cleaner picture once revenues close out. The report noted expense overruns in youth justice but that a mix of incoming revenues, fund balance and recoding should improve the end-of-year position.
Staff said they are reformatting budget-performance reports to make service-line receipts and purchase-service recaps clearer for future meetings. No formal budget adoption or amendment occurred at the meeting; the board asked for continued monthly updates as revenues are posted.
