The Manteno Village Board on Monday approved an omnibus consent agenda that included a housekeeping ordinance tying the village’s building‑code citation to the state’s latest code, extension of a camera rebate program, appointment of a new Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) authorized agent, a contract award for a Public Works cold‑storage building and payment of bills totaling $70,140.72.
Trustee Geske, who introduced the building‑code item, said the village is adopting language that references the most recent state‑approved codes so the municipality does not have to update the ordinance each time the state changes its standards: “The state mandates those and rather than change the ordinance every time when they have a new year, so we've kinda just put the same language in there that we have for the mandated building or plumbing code,” Geske said.
The board extended a village camera‑rebate program “until further notice.” The program provides a $100 rebate for each household camera purchase (examples cited at the meeting included Ring, Blink and Nest) and was described by trustees as a crime‑prevention tool the village has used to support public‑safety efforts.
The consent agenda included Resolution 24‑14 to appoint a new IMRF authorized agent. Trustees said the change was needed because the current agent, Darla Hurley, has submitted retirement papers and will step down in March; the resolution names a village employee to replace her (the employee name was listed in the resolution text on the meeting packet).
The board also approved a contract not to exceed $298,298 with Pigott Seminole Inc. for construction of a Public Works cold‑storage/materials building. Trustee Boyce described the building as “basically…a material storage” facility to store seasonal materials and equipment that do not fit in the main Public Works building.
The board authorized payment of bills in the amount of $70,140.72, of which $306.25 were charged to TIF No. 3, and acknowledged bills paid between board cycles totaling $52,110.49.
All consent items were approved by roll call under a single omnibus motion. The motions to take a single roll call vote and to approve the consent agenda passed with unanimous affirmative votes from trustees present.
